Why I Love Religion, And Love Jesus || Spoken Word
A response to the video “Why I Hate Religion, But Love Jesus”. The purpose of this video is to do a response from a Catholic perspective, in a spirit of love, but also with a spirit of passion to defend our Mother the Church. The things that are said are not meant to offend, but we do have to be direct about what we believe and what we stand for. Lyrics: What if I told you that Jesus loves religion And that by his coming as man he brought his religion to fruition See this had to be addressed, the use of illogical terms and definitions You clearly have a heart for Jesus but its fueling atheistic opinions See what makes his religion great is not errors of wars and inquisitions It’s that broken men and women to participate in his mission Clearly Jesus says I have not come to abolish I came to fulfill the law and I came to fulfill the prophets (Matthew 5:17) And lines about …

@MyrtleBeachC Thank you for explaining this Brother People tend to repeat what they hear about our faith.. instead to going themselves and doing real research… Or better yet even asking The Priest about it.. Shame…
@RyeBread64 yea and the sky is blue because we live inside a blue-eyed giant named Macomba
@MamaMaeVintage Matthew 18:15 “If your brother sins against you, go tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.” That is the only sin you can forgive, but you can pray together because you two are praying to God who will absolve you.
@timpus72 I’m not saying that. I am saying Catholicism is the teachings of man. That is why it disbanded from Christianity. And no, they aren’t the same.
@timpus72 Religion is man made. If they are all the same, then why are we separated? Because they all teach different things with one exception. That there is one God, the Heavenly Father.
@wkuzetamu “My church” does not mean “my religion”. The church is the physical manifestation of Christ’s body on earth. We are not bound to keep rituals or sacrifices. Only to love, share the gospel, and to “make disciples of all nations.” As to the Old Testament passages that you bring up, I do not have a clear cut answer. I can only say that Micah 6:6-8 says that the sacrifices and rituals in and of themselves do not please God. Loving mercy, acting justly and walking humbly with him does.
@ffunnyfrends “Why do you say Christianity is a religion? When religion is man made? Catholicism is man made because it derives from the teachings of Jesus. Men had their own believes and separated from the Christian Church.” – Catholicism and christianity is the same thing! Catholics, orthodox and protestants are all christians. m-kay? Religion is not man made according to judaism, christianity, islam and hinduism – The contant is revealed to man. But man participate in forming the the content
@ffunnyfrends Sounds like your are saying that catholicism is the teachings of Cathol. You better look up the definitions so that you speak the same language and don´t miss what others are trying to say. That is…if you are interested in dialogue and not monolog.
This is the best response I have seen yet. Thanks!
@aubrey12345able Jesus meant for them to go out and preach the Gospel of God. God sent Jesus to preach about God as so did Jesus with his apostles
@MyrtleBeachC Amen. I’m not a Catholic, but I, too, cringed while watching the original video.
@ffunnyfrends James 5:16 for confessing to one another. John 20:23 for his followers forgiving others’ sins. I’m obviously with you on not charging (as was Luther, rightfully so), but there is certainly a Biblical framework for the practice of formalized confession.
@MyrtleBeachC Why do you say Christianity is a religion? When religion is man made? Catholicism is man made because it derives from the teachings of Jesus. Men had their own believes and separated from the Christian Church.
@ffunnyfrends –”Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” James 5:16
@ffunnyfrends – Christianity is a religion, just as Islam is a religion. Catholicism IS Christianity. For many years it was the only form of Christianity. Protestants left the Church (as did the Anglicans), & called themselves Christians also, so they are also a part of Christianity. BTW, Jesus was a Jew his entire life, he followed Jewish rituals and celebrated all the Feasts. Upon his death, the New Covenant was enacted, so we are Christians (we believe and follow Christ).
@MyrtleBeachC There is a difference between asking for prayer and absolving someone.
@odaughterofzion7 – actually, Jesus Christ came to fulfill the law and not to do away with a single point of it! Can you please quote for me the line of scripture which supports your statement? Mine is found at Matt 5:17. To the priest who posted the video – Great Work!
@odaughterofzion7 – He did come to set us free, this is true. Christianity is a religion. How would you know about Jesus without the Catholic Church? You know about Jesus & the New Covenant, because of the New Testament,, and the Catholic Church, by it’s authority given by Jesus, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and passed down through Peter, CHOSE the texts which would make up the New Testament. The New Testament you have was passed to you by the Catholic Church. So….
@MyrtleBeachC Where in the Bible does it say to confess to another man that you have sinned? Look at the history. It is an invention. When people want to church, the priest saw it was a great opportunity to charge people for confession. That is how it all started. By greedy men. And the tradition stuck, but no more fees.
@scpshiro – I agree that Christians should not argue so much – Bethke’s video attacked other Christians, not atheists. Instead of doing good, it is being wrongly used by Protestants to continue their relentless attack on the Catholic Church, the Church that gave Protestants their Bible. You might not realize it if you’re not Catholic, but Catholics pick up on the references to their fatih in the video. Bless you, Sister. Your heart is in the right place.
@MyrtleBeachC – All churches have rituals. When I was Protestant, We rose and sang the same song to begin the service on Sunday. We went to Church at a certain time on Sunday. I was in G. A.’s as a child, and we had a coronation, we earned charms for our bracelets by memorizing scriptures. We went to Vacation Bible School, carried flags, at opening ceremony,.all man-made rituals. As far as works, we are not saved by works. We know that. But God wants us to do good works; we want to do his will.
@MyrtleBeachC Yea, I know people can organize together. But the last verse in the video was set out to talk about a structure. We are the church. Yet we still can come together. Somehow to Priest connects the verse with religion.
@aubrey12345able John 20:22 – the Lord “breathes” on the apostles, and then gives them the power to forgive and retain sins. The only other moment in Scripture where God breathes on man is in Gen. 2:7, when the Lord “breathes” divine life into man. When this happens, a significant transformation takes place.
@ffunnyfrends and through the Sacrament of reconciliation priests can forgive, “In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” John 20:21 – before He grants them the authority to forgive sins, Jesus says to the apostles, “as the Father sent me, so I send you.” As Christ was sent by the Father to forgive sins, so Christ sends the apostles and their successors forgive sins.
